Detoxing in Mendoza

·

In the land of sun and wine, detoxing can be a bit tricky. There are however a few spots where you can clear out a few of those party season toxins.

Juice it up
El Mercadito on Aristedes street offers a cool vibe and antioxidant juices to help you start your morning right. Carrot and orange will boost your vitamin c intake, while the beet juice is a good liver cleanser. Steer clear of the evenings though unless you want to re-tox with some of their wicked cocktails.

Sweat it out
Take the more holistic path and sweat out Christmas and New Year's indulgences with a temperature raising hammam. Entre Cielos in Vistalba has a private steam and scrub circuit that will make you fresh as a daisy. Their olive oil foam massage won't do any harm either.

Get your greens in
When you are fighting an appetite, delicious argentine steak glaring you in the face is just one temptation too many, so make your way to Govinda (San Martín 948, Godoy Cruz) where everything you can see is good for you. One of the longest running vegetarian establishments in Mendoza, Govinda has plenty of choice with their veggies stewed, steamed, curried, stuffed and anything else you can imagine. Guilt free lunch, and another temptation buster is the no alcohol policy.

Amanda Barnes is a British journalist living in Mendoza and is a firm believer in all the great properties red wine has. It's the best medicine really.
