Not only is La Azul is known for its small production of high quality Argentine wines - the bodega has also made a name for itself through its success as a socially responsible business. Owner and manager Shirley Hinojosa provides La Azul employees and their children with incentives to pursue education, and mothers have flexible schedules so they can care for their children. On-going training programs keep La Azul's staff up to speed with modern wine-making techniques, and only a small portion of total grape production is used to produce first-rate wines.

Though not widely known outside of Mendoza wine circles, Hinojosa's passion for her craft is evident in both her careful management of the winery and in the character and complexity of her wines.
