Description

Philippe and Brigitte Subra started Carinae in 2003 when they came to Mendoza on business and never left. In addition to personally greeting all guests, Philippe regularly gives tours of his boutique winery and conducts guided tastings. Thanks to his fascination with astronomy, all of the bodega's vineyards and wines have names associated with constellations and stars (CarinaE is named after a constellation visible only from the southern hemisphere during harvest time). While plans to construct an observatory are in the works, Philippe has set up two high-powered telescopes atop the winery's cement tanks.
Famed oenologist Michel Rolland oversees every phase of the winemaking process at Carinae, and the results are balanced wines with intense color, pronounced fruit, and marked tannins.
