Hotel restaurants are not something people usually rave about, but one of Mendoza’s best dining options is Bistro M in The Park Hyatt. A bright, modern layout with quirky artwork and a huge open plan kitchen is the ideal set up for this Mediterranean style bistro.
The best way to taste your way through the menu here is by ordering a handful of the starters for the table and share them tapas style. Stuffed calimares covered in rich sauce; warm brie and wild boar salad; and stuffed eggplant are just a couple of the tempting starters that ought to whet your palate. Follow them up with one of the traditional Argentine meat dishes cooked right in front of you in the wood burning oven, or more European flavors like their signature rose shaped stuffed pasta or roasted black cod. Desserts too are delectable and their famed patisserie is going to start making sweet things to take away, for any sweet tooth on the run! The weekday lunch menu is a belt-loosening affair with a starter and dessert buffet sandwiching the main course.
The wine list is one to be reckoned with even for the seasoned professional. In recent years it won a Wine Spectator award for the best wine list in South America, and the 500 label strong ‘carta’ ensures that it is still on top of its game. The ‘wine library’ forms a central pillar in the hotel with an attractive spiral staircase winding its way up past the bottles to the bar upstairs.
Bistro M is certainly more than your usual hotel fayre and it is, quite rightly so, one of the city’s most popular places to wine and dine.
