HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US and we all have our family traditions that we adhere to-  which often include copious amounts of turkey, side dishes, food handovers, and lots of football… the American kind.

Thanks giving at The Vines- Staff Planting and asado!

The Vines of Mendoza team is celebrating by shutting down the Tasting Room for the day and heading to our Private Vineyard Estates for a staff planting and an asado. We will be planting that last Malbec vines of 2009, marking the beginning of a new growing season in the Uco Valley. We are also heading into summer here so everyone is in shorts and t-shirts which is always a bit strange for me, being used to cold weather on Thanksgiving.

HOW DO YOU COOK A TURKEY?

I am personally responsible for cooking the turkey,(not sure how that happened!) which is a daunting task for anyone, but even more so since I somehow have to maneuver the turkey half cooked from my house in Mendoza to the finca’s parrilla in the Uco Valley. Also, having been a vegetarian for 15 years (ok…Argentina converted me) I am vacillating between all the online advice that I have encountered…brine, salt, breast up/breast down, marinate, inject…it’s endless….

Any suggestions and tips for your favorite turkey recipe would be greatly appreciated!! Email me at emily@vinesofmendoza.com.

What I do know is that we will have some fantastic wine pairings, Mounier Torrontes, Richardi Espumante (a personal favorite, I believe you should drink Champagne every day!) many of Pablo’s wines from Gimenez Riili and many many Malbecs and a few fernet and cokes for the natives. (Fernet Branca with coca cola is the national drink of choice for Argentines.)

So we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving wherever you are in the world and hope you are drinking Malbec!

Saludos!
