After moving to Mendoza sight unseen over a year and a half ago, I began seeking out those wines that inspired me to move from Napa. After working for exclusive boutique California wineries (OK, I’m a wine snob) I was on the hunt for world class wines with quality and sophistication.
So I wanted to write and share “Mis favoritos” local treasures with very special stories to tell.
(3 bottles $99 – normally $153)
The Qaramy Pachauasi, I know it’s hard to pronounce (pa-cha-wa-si), is an amazing wine from a local father-son duo, who don’t even have a winery yet. A blend of 61% Malbec, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Syrah is simply luscious, silky and smooth.
The Gran Estirpe, with a mere production of 6,100 bottles is from the boutique bodega, Clos de Chacras. I have always had a love affair with this spicy, layered and complex wine and was ecstatic when they recently received a gold medal at the highly respected Argentine Wine Awards.
The last wine is the aptly named Poesia from Bodega Poesia. French owned, this wine emulates the Grand Crus of France, elegant with fascinating nuances incorporating body, depth and intense flavors.
EmilyI know that everyone will fall in love with these wines as I have.
Saludos and hope to see you soon here in Mendoza!
P.S. Also check out our new Acequia Wine Club shipment, all the wines have been personally selected by The Vines team.
